This morning began with the Huatuo Members’ Assembly, and by afternoon I found myself at Mima Yang Gallery, attending Salvo’s workshop on mounting. I had expected nothing more than a lesson in technique, yet what unfolded was far beyond craft. With quiet patience, the Italian painter spoke of the subtle distance between art and painting, of ways of seeing that resist the weight of assumption. His words lingered: approach nothing with a fixed mind, but instead with openness, with the willingness to see light where one might expect shadow.

In his gentle critique, Salvo pointed out that my colors lean toward the heavy, the muted, the sorrowful. He urged me toward brightness, toward joy. I recognized myself in his words, for when my works are gathered together, they sing in tones of melancholy, bound by a mood that has become too familiar. Perhaps it is time to unlearn this gravity, to let new subjects and new colors breathe through the canvas, and to allow myself to paint toward light.

We are all, in our own ways, pursuing an unfinished dream, reaching toward a horizon we may never fully grasp. Yet within the solitude of creation lies a quiet joy—the kind that makes the pursuit itself its own reward.
