Heart Seed Project – Art Sharing at Tzu Chi

On August 17, we carried out an art-sharing event at Tzu Chi as part of the Heart Seed Project. The original idea, proposed by Ying-Ju, was to host portrait sketching, music sharing, and an exhibition. After evaluating the venue, we decided that extending the Heart Seed Project through interactive art activities would be a more meaningful fit.

When we first arrived at the venue to set up, preparations were a bit hectic. Fortunately, with the assistance of Tzu Chi volunteers, everything soon came together smoothly. Our booth quickly became the most popular one of the day, as many participants were eager to experience printmaking.

Although I am not a professional printmaker and the process was not entirely conventional, the true goal was achieved: art was shared. Participants not only enjoyed the experience of making their own prints but also exchanged feedback with one another—discussing what turned out well and what could be improved. This spirit of joyful participation and mutual sharing was the essence of the event, far more important than training anyone to become a printmaking expert.

To extend the experience, each participant received seeds of zinnias and chrysanthemums—both native to Taiwan. Originally, the plan was to distribute Formosan lily seeds, but due to their seasonal and storage limitations, an adjustment was made. Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Lin, owner of Sui Geng Seed Company, we were able to provide these seeds instead. We hope everyone will plant them with care and one day enjoy the blossoms as a continuation of this shared artistic journey.

有一天穎如來找我談要辦在慈濟的人物速寫和音樂分享還有展覽的計劃，我一樣豪爽的答應了，但在看了場地以後我覺得並不合適，後來大家討論一下我覺得用心田種籽計劃並延伸藝術分享的活動，應該會蠻合適的。時間好快一下子8/17就到了，一開始到會場佈置時手忙腳亂的，慢慢的有慈濟師姐來幫忙後漸入佳境。而且昨天我們的攤位是人氣最旺的。大家都想要來體驗版畫。雖然我並不專業，做的也不正規。但我相信昨天我做到一件事情就是把藝術分享出去了讓大家可以體驗，好多人印完以後滿心開心，並且會彼此分享告知印的好不好？哪裡應該注意！我想這個才是我要的目的，而不是訓練大家成為版畫專家。印完版畫後一樣我們贈送了百日菊和黃金菊的種籽給大家，這兩種種籽也是台灣原生種，雖然和原本設定的台灣原生野百合不一樣，但這個是我的疏忽，因為原生野百合的種籽並不適合在這個季節，而且有保存期限。但我覺得一切都是最好的安排，感謝穗耕種苗老闆林董贈送的種籽。期待大家能用心的種植，開出開心的花朵。
