福爾摩沙生命魅影

I am truly honored that my still-maturing work has been selected by the jury for the 15th Artist Relay Exhibition at Huludun in Taichung City.

“Phantom of Life on Formosa” is a theme suggested by artist Chi Hsiang based on my previous work. I said, “Formosa? That feels too grand for me!” But I was quite intrigued by the idea of the “phantom of life.” All of this came from a simple desire to fulfill a dream, and the piece “Soul Collector”, which was selected for the Artist Relay Exhibition, is a manifestation of that dream.

It was merely an attempt to document a long-held inner vision, yet it led me down a completely unexpected path. After receiving confirmation of my selection, I began a period of intense creative focus—walking a path from which there was no turning back.

So many things happened by coincidence. Originally, I had intended to enter competitions, but somehow, every time I remembered the deadline, it had already passed. I submitted Soul Collector to Japan simply to participate in an exhibition, not realizing that the event included a competition. Unexpectedly, it won the Silver Award.

At the time, a gallery was eager to help me sell the piece, but they lowered the price three times. I felt this lacked integrity, so I chose not to work with them and decided to keep the piece. Because of that, I was able to submit it to the Artist Relay Exhibition—and it was selected.

Everything, in hindsight, was the best arrangement from above.

I had never really participated in competitions before, but through this relay exhibition, I’ve come to realize that producing a large body of work helps organize my thoughts and define my creative direction. I’m planning to apply for an exhibition at the Kaohsiung Cultural Center later this year, hoping to further clarify my painting style and creative methods into a more coherent path.

To become stronger—because in the end, it is the artwork itself that truly speaks.

很榮幸我這還不成熟的作品獲得評審的青睞，入選台中市葫蘆墩第15屆藝術家接力展。福爾摩沙生命魅影是紀向老師依我之前的作品給我的建議主題，我說「福爾摩沙」，我沒那麼偉大吧！但生命魅影我就蠻有興趣的。一切的緣份在於想完成一個夢，而「勾魂者」這張入圍藝術家接力展的作品亦是如此。只是將內心已久的夢紀錄下來，卻引領著我走向不同的道路。確定入選以後我開始閉關創作，走向一條不回頭的路。

很多事情都是陰錯陽差。本來想要參加比賽，結果每一次想起比賽日期的時候總是錯過。這一張勾魂者送到日本，純粹想要參加展覽，沒想到這一次的展覽附加了比賽卻得了銀賞獎。而當初藝廊一直想要我賣出，只是他壓低了三次的價格。我覺得這樣沒有誠信，所以不和他合作，將這張作品保留在身上，也因此以此作品入選了藝術家接力展。一切都是上天最好的安排。自己一直沒有參加比賽，反而這一次參加接力展以後，讓我發現大量的創作會整理起我自己的思維與創作方向。預計今年再來申請一個高雄文化中心的展覽，好好再將自己繪畫的模式，創作方法整理出一個清晰的道路。強大自己，因為只有作品才是王道。
