On March 25, the opening ceremony of Xu Wenrong’s Rushi Garden took place, attended by many distinguished guests from the political and business sectors. It is truly remarkable for an artist to achieve such a feat—there are probably only a handful in all of Taiwan who could do the same.

The part I enjoyed most during the ceremony was Xu Laoshi’s self-introduction. He shared that he was a child who once herded cattle, growing up in a poor family. Despite failing to get into an art school three times, he never gave up on art. This speaks volumes about his perseverance.

Building this art museum was an enormous challenge—many must have doubted whether it could be completed. But he persisted. Though it took a long time, he still accomplished this difficult dream. I truly admire him.

Art should be like this—setting a goal and moving forward step by step with determination. I am not very familiar with Xu Laoshi, but after this event, I have gained another teacher I deeply respect. He is someone worth learning from.
